MY BREASTFEEDING STORY..

Like any other new mom, I had also faced a lot in the first few days of breastfeeding. within 1 hour of baby’s birth, I fed her first thick milk, and I was happy that she will get all nourishment she wants in upcoming days too, however, the doctor suggested my husband, to buy formula milk and recommended to give it alternately along with my milk, since the supply was not enough after few hours.

After discussing with friends who had the motherly experience I came to know it is the thing with all in the first few days, but some lucky ones have a good supply from day one itself.
As per doctor’s recommendation, we gave her 10ml of formula milk on day 1, as it was normal delivery I was discharged from hospital on day 2 and we have decided to go with breast milk but the things didn’t work accordingly she cried and got irritated because of hunger as milk production was low.

Again we had to give her formula milk but as a result, it doesn’t suit her, and she cried the whole night due to stomach pain. From day 3 magically my breast became tender and they were leaking like a fountain and pained a lot.

My mother in law and I was happy by this achievement of mine, on the 5th-day baby was detected by jaundice and had to be admitted ASAP they had kept her under UV lights.
Doctor told me to breastfeed her every 2 hours as this process will make her dehydrated, the first day went smoothly but on 2nd day due to stress and been awake up for whole night for 2 days it decreased my milk supply but, I continued to feed her as more she will latch more milk will be produced but she got constipated due to less milk and dehydration . On 3 rd day, we decided not to keep her under those harm light and kept her out in sun.

Things worked well her jaundice was gone, we got discharged from hospitable things went well up to 3 months after that I was suffered by a formation of milk duct which causes fever above 100degrees and breast pain a lot.

Still, I won’t gave up as it will be open by her latching and massage only, due to offering frequent latching in one side as I had to unclog the duct my nipples became sore and bloody.
Again things were coming on track and when she turn 4th month I suffered by herpes on my stomach by sleepless nights and low immunity, that is the worst pain I have suffered in my life even my normal delivery doesn’t get me this much. It feels like someone had poured hot oil on our skin and the burning sensation is on another level it took 15 days to recover, still I won’t give up and feed her in standing position.

Until then things are working great soon she will be 6 months old, will try to feed her as long as possible as like my mother has fed me for long 5 years.

My breastfeeding journey has taught me not to give up; no matter what one day result will come.
