Benefit of fasting

Fasting is commonly associated among Hindus and Muslim being it a Ramadan or Navratri.There is mainly three types of fasting,

Intermittent fasting:  Is a fasting when you fast for certain period of time like Navaratri where you go for 9 days fast.

Alternate day fasting: is a fasting where you eat as much food you want in one day and fast for another day, which is consuming 500 calories only.

Time restricted fasting: is a fasting where you target to finish all your meal within a certain time limit like say within 8 hours of a day.

Keeping in mind fasting doesn’t mean to eat oily fat dishes like allopuri , sabudana vada etc which are traditional dishes consume in India during fasting will not give you any kind of benefit from it.

To take a most out from fasting try to include juices, fruit salad etc anything which is healthy and can be consumed in fasting too.

Here are some of the benefits of fasting if you follow it in a healthy way:

Make your skin healthier:

Your skin shows what you eat; fasting improves your skin integrity.

Increase longer life:

Fasting slows down the disease of aging and bone density loss because it’s about eating right and healthy.

If you are suffering from thyroid fasting will help you in building up hormone, which helps in great metabolism and keeps your thyroid hormone in track.

Fasting restricts you to a particular diet which doesn’t involve any spices, fat or junk food which gives you an option of eating healthy, which not only lowers your bad cholesterol level but also decreases your lower blood pressure.

Due to the low sugar consumption, your body will secrete less insulin, which will encourage better insulin sensitivity in your body.

Checklist before you head out for Garba night

And the most hippy colorful dance fest is here, garba which is a traditional Gujarati folk dance and is performed during Navaratri i.e. for nine days performed around an earthen lamp in a circular form with wooden sticks called as dandiyas.
But, before you head off for this magical night, here’s the checklist I have curate according to my experience which will hopefully help you.
Go for fusion-boohoo desi look:
One of the most aspects is to go out of style yet be desi, pair your long kurtas with palazzo and oxidized jewelry or a backless choli with a skirt.
Plays around with the Deepika’s ram Lela look or Aishwarya’s dholi taro look. Be fash-forward yet be comfortable in your style.
Stay hydrated:
While lost in the loud music and in a spirit of garba don’t forget to stay hydrated after all is the best cardio one can enjoy whole night.
Staying hydrated will also make sure to keep that energy level on and does not lead to after cramps which happens with me and trust me it is the most painful experience so stay hydrated while dancing.
Safety first:
One of the most common thing which can be seen in garba is the eve teasing as, there are a lot of strangers around you, staying with your friends and family is the best you can do to avoid it.
Or if it gets worse than take a stand for it and do not let it go.
Also, make sure to keep safe your belonging or in my opinion do not carry it along with you until and unless you have someone to keep an eye on it.
Build up your stamina:
Building up your stamina pre garba is the best thing you can do with your body, or if you don’t have the time just practice some stretching exercise or a Surya Namaskar will relax your muscles and strengthen your muscle for the magical night.
Next day pamper session:
The next day body pain will not let you get up easily in the morning, start your day with a lite yoga session and a hot bath will solve your problem.
Try to eat healthy in the morning as again Garba night will bring a lot of junk in your tummy. Soak your legs in warm water or if possible have a massage session to relax your muscle.
And you’ll be ready for next day, So grab your dandiyas and dance like no one is watching.




How to sanitize your daily picks

We do clean our house daily and looks pretty neat, clean and germ-free to us, but in reality, there are some things and spot in our places we really didn’t take care much on that even though they are used in our daily routine.

All you need is the ¾ cup of bleach in one liter of water, soak it for 3-5 minutes and then dried it out in sun before using.

Bleaching solution will kill 99.99% of bacteria.

Hairbrush and comb:

It’s important to disinfect your hairbrush or comb to stop building up of dandruff, dirt, and grime that may build up over a time if not your hairbrush is not cleaned.

Soak all your hairbrush in hot water with liquid soap and vinegar in it allow it to sit overnight or for 1 hour, use an old toothbrush to clean it between teeth rinse it brush under running water and shake off the excess water.


How to take care of toddler hair

Maintaining a good hygiene is the first and the most priority of parents especially in a toddler as they are more prone to infection in this monsoon season.
Most of the time we ignore the hairs it is the first place where sweat and grime accumulate as they play, run and what not toddlers are unstoppable.

Different oil to treat your hair woes.

Other than sticking to the old coconut oil, here are some different types of oil you can use according to your problems.

Almond oil:

This super lite and aromatic oil are rich in omega-3 fatty acid, vitamin E, magnesium and phospholipids make your hair super shiny and healthy.

Not only this also neutralizes the PH level of your scalp and protects it from toxin and chemicals.

Pomegranate seed oil:

Filled with vitamin C makes your hair stronger and thicker, it is the cheapest way to treat your hair fall problem. It is thick in consistency so, make sure to add a lite oil like olive oil and almond oil in it before use if, you don’t like the thick consistency.

It increases the blood circulation and improves the hair growth.

Castor oil:

Olive oil:

How to make egg-less pancake

Pancakes are the most lovable anytime flat, round and thin cake. But not everyone can taste it as it contains eggs which stop vegetarians to eat it and surprisingly they even don’t know the taste bud of it yes, including me as a vegetarian I cannot have the pancakes as it contains egg.

So, here I came up with eggless pancake which will satisfy your world famous breakfast pancake craving and will be loved by your kids as well.

  • Preparation time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking time: 10-15 minutes
  • Servings: 6-7 pancakes

What you need:

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 tsp brown sugar or normal white sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1tsp water if needed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Butter or Honey for garnishing
  • Fresh fruit of your choice


Wash your fruit thoroughly and keep them aside.

Whisk together all the dry ingredient.

Then add the entire wet ingredient and do not over mix it.

Keep the mixture aside for 5 min.

Heat a pan or dosa tawa, once it is hot add the butter to grease the pan.

Turn off the flame and leave it for 2-3 minutes.

Again turn on the flame on medium and pour ladleful of batter.

Cook until a bubble appears on the surface.

When the color changes to brown flip the pancake and cooks it from another side as well until golden brown.

Transfer it into the plate top it up with a fruit of your choice and with honey or butter.

Baby cream:

Works wonder on the dry and chapped skin as it is thicker than your normal body lotion, so grab it if you have dry skin or if you are traveling in the cold state.

Cheap alternative for makeup wipes are soft and moisturize your face works best for the sensitive skin or to keep your face grime free during summer are a great alternative from highly priced makeup wipes.

Body wash:

Baby body wash is more gentle on skin as they come in balanced ph level and on top of them they are paraben and mineral oil free which will not lead your skin harm and rough on texture.

Baby oil:

Unlike coconut, almond and olive oil baby oils are non-sticky and light which easily seeps into your skin leaving it soft and supple, it can be a great alternative for post pregnancy massage oil.

Baby powder:

This is another alternative for dry shampoo just dab a little bit on your scalp and massage it, don’t overdo it otherwise, can give you a gray hair. You can also apply on your lips after applying lipstick to give a matte look.

Summer Travel Tips

Summer vacation comes with lot of fun and adventure, as school are shut down for 2 month kids loves their summer vacation but for parents it becomes difficult to control kids in vacation, to take a break from staying home in summer plan a fun family summer vacation which will not only give you a break but your kids will also cherish vacation memories later on.

Here are some tips for summer vacation so that you cannot regret planning afterward.

Go Easy with clothing:

In order to get a perfect click on vacation we always pack more clothes wondering picture will come nicely in this, but in summer you can look stylish with cotton dresses which are not only comfy but also light to carry in your baggage.

Protect your body from UV sun rays:

Don’t compromise with your body protection in heat, always carry a sunglasses for your eyes protection, hat while stepping out in sun and one cannot forget to apply sun block or sunscreen at any cost.

Avoid Street Food:

One cannot resist from yummy street food but in summer avoid as much as you can since oily and fried item leads to dehydration and gastroenteritis. Instead, try using local fruit wherever you visit and watery food like watermelon and cucumber to keep you fresh and hydrated.

Get ready for Emergency:

We never know what would happen next until it was not in the plan. Do carry some important medicines like anti-emetics, anti-motility drugs few packets of ORS.Some acidity relief tablet and if someone in your family is under medication do not skip their medicines.

Take a break:

Often take a break while traveling .do not skip restroom break, do light stretching in between, keep yourself hydrated, and most importantly enjoy the present moment in this way you will not feel tired by the end of the day.

If you are pregnant and planning to take trip talk to your gynecologist before you take off to discuss safety factors for you and your baby.

Keep yourself hydrated and carry some light food with you .eat before you are hungry and drink before you are thirsty.

Pack some snacks:

It’s always a good idea to pack some snacks like granola bars, dry fruits or homemade laddoos will come in handy if you are traveling with a kid.

Make your own Holi colours

Spring is officially here so as the festival of Holi .With the happiest festival of season and splash of colors ,Holi is being celebrated throughout in India with much more hoo-hala and so as the chance to drench everyone  with bura na mano holi hai but this also brings the skin allergy ,irritating eyes and the pain to get off that after holi color with the chemical based colour.

Though in market some herbal colors are available but not came with guarantee and may be fake label for its sale but you can make your own organic color without any fuss but with a little effort and will be gentle to your skin and eyes.

Red :


  • Red Sandal Wood Powder has a beautiful red colour, can be added with rice flour to increase its quantity . This can be used instead of Red Gulal.
  • Dry red hibiscus flowers in shade and powder to make a lovely red color.


  • Beetroot, Peels of Red Pomegranate boiled in water, juice of tomatoes and carrots all diluted with enough water to make natural red color .
  • 2 tsp of sindur with 1 liter  of water .



  • Mix two parts of turmeric powder (haldi) with four parts of rice flour  and use it as yellow gulal.
  • Dried  petals of Amaltas, Marigold / Gainda , in shade and crush them to obtain a fine powder


  • Add one teaspoon of haldi to two liters of water and stir well. This can be boiled to increase the concentration of color .
  • Soak Amaltas or Marigold flowers in water. Boil and leave overnight.



  • Use mehendi / henna powder, separately or mix with equal quantity rice flour to attain a lovely green shade.Make sure your use pure heena without any amla ritha added to it .
  • Dry and finely powder the leaves of Gulmohur tree for a green colour.


  • Mix two teaspoons of mehendi in one liter of water and Stir it well.
  • Can also be obtained by mixing a fine paste of green vegetable leaves like spinach / palak, coriander / dhaniya, mint / pudina etc. in water.



  • The Jacaranda flowers can be dried in the shade and ground to obtain a beautiful blue powder. The flowers bloom in summers.


  • Crush the berries (fruits) of the Indigo plant and add to water for desired color strength. In some Indigo species the leaves when boiled in water yield a rich blue.



  • soak saffron strands overnight in water mix later mix it with rice flour and dried that in shade


  • The Flame of the Forest known as Tesu, Palash or Dhak in vernacular languages, is the source of the wonderful, traditional color for Holi. The flowers are soaked overnight in water and can also be boiled to obtain a fragrant yellowish – orange-colored water.



  • Kattha (Acacia catechu) when mixed with water will give a brownish color.
  • Boil Tea or Coffee leaves in water. Cool and use.


Wet Colour

  • Boil dried fruits of Amla / Indian Gooseberry in an iron vessel and leave overnight. Dilute with water and use.
  • Extract juice of black grapes and dilute with sufficient quantity of water to remove stickiness

Thandai is definitely an intoxicating drink popular in northern part of India during Maha shivratri and Holi . Embedded with a tradition of Holi this health drink (without bhang) will give you a kick-start from a tiring color playing and set your mood to start it all over again.

As prepared  from a mix of nuts with milk this health drink will keep you cool even during summer and definitely a good for your children (without bhang )

Here I am sharing how you can make your own Thandai without Bhang and can be enjoyed from younger to older one this Holi


–  1/2 lt milk
– 1/2 cup of sugar
– Saffron
– 20-25 soak  overnight Almond
– 10-15 soak overnight Cashew nuts
– 1/4th cup of soak overnight Pista
– 1/4 cup dried rose petal (optional)
– 1/4th cup of Melon Seeds
– Soak overnight Fennel seeds
– 3 tbsp Poppy Seeds ( Khas Khas )
– 1 tbsp Black pepper ,Cardamom ,Cinnamon
– milk.

Serving -2 to 3 glasses

– Bring milk to a boil and add sugar in it
– Add saffron strands to it and mix well
– In a mixer grind together almond, cashew nuts, pistachios, melon seeds, Fennel seeds, poppy seeds (khas khas),cardamom & cinnamon can add milk or water to adjust the consistency of a paste
– Mix the grind mixture with kesar milk
– Turn on the flame and boil the mixture for a minute then turn off the flame and add some cinnamon powder and rose-water in it.
– Let it cool for 10-15 minutes
– pour thandai with ice-cube in a glass
– Garnish the Thandai with pista, elaichi powder & kesar.

Tip : you can grind nuts without soaking them overnight and can use it as thandai powder which can be store in refrigerator for 2-3 months .
